Seachange is a registered charity at the heart of the Woodbury, Exmouth, and Budleigh Salterton community, providing essential health and wellbeing services. We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Fundraising Manager to develop and grow our individual, corporate, and legacy fundraising.
Key responsibilities include:
- Expanding our Story Makers regular giving scheme and increasing individual donations.
- Building corporate partnerships and developing tailored fundraising opportunities.
- Maximising Gift Aid and stewarding donors to enhance long-term support.
- Delivering fundraising campaigns, including Summer and Christmas appeals.
- Raising awareness of legacy giving and securing future commitments.
- Managing the Fundraising and Communications Officer and working closely with the wider team.

Introduction
Seachange is a registered charity (1196379) based in East Devon, serving the 50,000 residents of the Woodbury, Exmouth, and Budleigh Salterton coastal area. We bring people together, creating a safe and welcoming space where individuals can access health and wellbeing services, social opportunities, and community support.
Each year, we directly support over 8,000 people and work in partnership with 140 organisations and local groups. Our goal is to improve lives through connection, support, and practical solutions to issues such as loneliness, isolation, and access to healthcare.
Seachange is growing its fundraising strategy to create long-term, sustainable income. This role will be key in securing funding from individuals and corporate partners, as well as promoting legacy giving as a vital source of future support.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, results-driven Fundraising Manager to help grow and diversify our income streams. This role will focus on generating income from individual giving, corporate partnerships, and legacy fundraising, ensuring that Seachange can continue providing essential services to the community. You will also be responsible for the line management of the part time Fundriasing and Communications Officer ensuring that the overall Fundriasing approach is cohesive and strategic.
Key responsibilities
- Implementing strategies to grow income from individual donors, corporate partners, and legacy giving.
- Building and nurturing relationships with supporters at all giving levels, ensuring excellent donor stewardship.
- Increasing the number of regular givers to our Story Makers monthly giving scheme, with a focus on year-on-year income growth.
- Maximising Gift Aid across all eligible donations.
- Researching and identifying corporate supporters, approaching businesses with tailored fundraising opportunities and partnership models.
- Launching and managing an annual Summer and Christmas appeal, engaging both existing and new supporters.
- Working with key stakeholders to identify and cultivate relationships with potential major donors.
- Promoting legacy giving, raising awareness and encouraging long-term support for Seachange.
- Delivering presentations to key individuals and businesses to promote Seachange’s fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to utilise their community knowledge and networks to strengthen fundraising efforts.
- Managing donor records, keeping the database up to date with accurate supporter information.
- Providing regular reports on fundraising progress to the Head of Seachange.
Line Management Responsibilities
The Fundraising Manager will provide line management support to the Fundraising and Communications Officer, ensuring a cohesive and strategic approach to income generation and supporter engagement. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing guidance, support, and direction to the Fundraising and Communications Officer, ensuring alignment with Seachange’s fundraising strategy.
- Setting clear objectives and performance targets, offering regular feedback and development opportunities.
- Overseeing community fundraising and communications activities, ensuring they complement individual and corporate fundraising efforts.
- Encouraging innovation and best practices in supporter engagement and public awareness campaigns.
- Conducting regular 1:1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Supporting professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and effectiveness.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in fundraising, marketing, donor development, or income generation.
- Ability to build relationships and engage supporters at all levels, from individuals to corporate partners.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in public speaking.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities while staying focused on income targets.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.
- An understanding of donor stewardship, the supporter journey, and different levels of giving.
- Experience with data management and CRM systems, ensuring accurate supporter records and reporting.
- A creative and strategic mindset to develop and implement fundraising campaigns.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Gift Aid processes and how to maximise income from eligible donations.
- Experience in corporate fundraising and engaging businesses in charitable giving.
- An understanding of legacy fundraising and how to promote it effectively.
- Previous experience in line management, mentoring, or team leadership, with the ability to support and develop team members effectively.

Introduction to Seachange
Seachange opened on the site of the Budleigh Hospital in March 2018. We provide a range of services such as NHS outpatient appointments, GP services, exercise classes, and space for community gatherings. These are all designed to help improve our community’s health, reduce isolation and loneliness, and, as a result, reduce costs to the NHS.
In 2021 we changed our name to Seachange. This was designed to reflect our commitment to offering support and services not just for the people of Budleigh, but for the wider East Devon community too. We are still based at the original hospital but with more services to help our community, more volunteers, and a renewed enthusiasm to reduce loneliness and promote positive change.
Overall Job Purpose
To coordinate, support and develop the catering requirements and kitchen within Seachange which currently includes:
- Seachange Community Café
- Catering for our various clubs and groups inc. Memory Café; activity group.
This is a new role, with the opportunity to lead on providing a warm and welcome space as well as catering provision for Seachange.
This role will be initially supported by a team of volunteers. We envisage that the role will develop in time to meet the changing needs of the community and Seachange. Our vision is a place for people to come together, feel safe and welcome in a friendly environment where produce is ideally local, seasonal, fresh, and sustainable, minimising food waste along the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate a range of catering options for the community cafe, customers. patients and the social groups that are integral to Seachange.
- Liaise with other coordinators to agree the format of programmes, menus and activities i.e. breakfast clubs etc
- Direct coordination of and involvement in production of food and cooking; cleaning; preparation of the cafe area and procedures to agreed standards.
- Take the lead role in developing a range of systems and procedures that support the running of the kitchen in line with Environmental Health, Health and safety at Work, food safety records and in particular the requirement to identify, maintain and review food safety controls (HACCP / COSHH). This will include testing and recording food temperatures and the planning of the cleaning and maintenance programme.
- Procure food / non food catering related items including sourcing; pricing and negotiating with suppliers.
- Support with the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers.
- Provide induction training for volunteers
- Work as part of the team and take on duties as directed to fulfil the role of the organisation.
- Ensure relevant policies, procedures and good practice guidelines are followed to meet the projects and organisation’s legal and contractual obligations.
General Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL
- Ability to coordinate and lead a team of volunteers

- Practical skills to work within the catering environment, food preparation; menu creation and use of kitchen equipment
- Full understanding of the health and safety regulations in coordinating and leading a community cafe
- Innovative thinker and be able to work independently or as part of a team
- To be able to apply a methodical approach to work demonstrated in the ability to organise the kitchen; daily routine and stock control to maximum capacity
- A good communicator with the ability to make decisions and work to deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Level 3 food safety qualifications (or the willingness to achieve)
